Russian Adjectives — Agreement, Comparatives & Superlatives

Russian adjectives must agree with their noun in gender, number, and case. The dictionary form is the masculine singular nominative: но́вый ("new"), хоро́ший ("good"), большо́й ("big"). To form the feminine, neuter, and plural in the nominative, swap the ending: но́вый стол → но́вая кни́га → но́вое окно́ → но́вые столы́.

Comparative degree: most adjectives form a simple comparative with -ee (краси́вее "more beautiful"), some have irregular comparatives (хоро́ший → лу́чше). Superlative is usually formed with са́мый + the adjective: са́мый высо́кий дом ("the tallest building"). Short-form adjectives (краси́в, краси́ва, краси́во, краси́вы) appear mainly in predicate position and have a slightly different stylistic flavour.
