Russian Questions — How to Ask Questions in Russian

Yes/no questions in Russian use the same word order as statements — only intonation changes. Rising intonation on the focused word turns Вы говори́те по-ру́сски ("You speak Russian") into Вы говори́те по-ру́сски? ("Do you speak Russian?").

Wh-questions use question words at the start: Что? ("What?"), Кто? ("Who?"), Где? ("Where?"), Когда́? ("When?"), Почему́? ("Why?"), Как? ("How?"), Ско́лько? ("How much?"), Како́й? ("Which?"). The question word ли can be added after the verb in formal yes/no questions: Зна́ете ли вы…? ("Do you know…?").
