nachinat vs vvodit — begin vs enter/introduce
Register: neutral
What it really means
Начина́ть means to begin or start an action, process, period, or activity. It can be transitive—начинать урок, “start a lesson”—or intransitive—начинать работать, “start working.” It describes the beginning itself and forms a standard imperfective pair with нача́ть.
Вводи́ть means to bring in, enter, input, introduce, or put into effect. It is used for entering data, admitting someone, introducing a rule, or commissioning a system: вводить пароль, вводить войска, вводить закон. It does not mean “begin” merely because English says “introduce” an activity; use начинать when the focus is starting.
Examples in natural speech
We begin the lesson at nine.
He starts working early in the morning.
Enter the password again.

Common mistakes
Do not use вводи́ть for simply starting a lesson, meeting, or job; use начина́ть. Use вводи́ть when something is inserted, brought in, introduced as a rule/system, or administered. Also distinguish вводи́ть from its perfective counterpart ввести́, whose present-looking forms are irregular.
Memory tip
Начина́ть starts an activity; вводи́ть puts a person, thing, value, rule, or system into a context.
